Who We Are
California & Baja Real Estate Acquisition & Divestiture
“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
―
For more than 36-years, my firm, BIACO International represented some of the largest names in the real estate profession as well as hundreds of individuals and families looking to either build or improve their lives through the acquisition of real estate. From starter homes to investment property, commercial to residential, south of the border to north and from proffders to permits, our firm took pride in its ability to provide our clients with competent counsel in real estate, land use and governmental affairs law and real property acquisition/divestiture.
Then in 1993, a well-experienced and talented real estate agent joined the firm from her position at one of the nation’s largest financial institutions, American Savings where she was their Chief Appraiser for thier real estate division. In short order, she had the Real Estate Division up and running representing property acquisition and divestitures as well as wholesale ownership of my heart…until 2016 when, after 30-years, retirement was finally at hand, for both of us now as husband and wife.
In 2020, with a level of education, experience and acumen that I respectfully defy any real estate professional today to possess, we elected to open a decidedly slimmed-down version of the company, The AmesGroup concentrating on providing our clients who are specifically interested in real estate sales and investment with our more than 4-decades of experience; experience which includes the representation of clients in both the US and Mexico.
Today, our practice includes California as well as Baja where we represent long-time developer client R-MAC properties in their wholly-unique and luxurious, private, home community of Rancho Costa Verde. With a crime rate of just 2.5, this in comparison to that of the more popular Cabo with it’s crime rate of 43.76 or Ensenada at 39.07, this oasis is truly a tropical paradise. Just 90-minutes south of the border along the Sea of Cortez, Rancho Costa Verde allows for beachfront and beachside living in custom-built homes on quarter-acre properties investors actually own, all starting at just $22,500.
Rancho Costa Verde
While admitedly Baja is generally known for the roar of the Pacific as its waves crash against the peninsula’s western coastline; that and the exotic nightlife of the multi-million dollar resorts and communities that line exotic localles like Cabo and Ensenada, Rancho Costa Verde sits quietly on the eastern shore of the peninsula just south of San Felipe; a quiet fishing village of about 20,000 just 90-minutes from the California border. With its backyard nestled quietly along the coast of the more tranquil and environmentally-protected Sea of Cortez, this guard-gated, private, custom-home community is the very anthesis of its better-known resort towns; and it’s this wholesale contrast in geography that defines Rancho Costa Verde’s community of custom-built homes, each designed to the exact specifications of its residents who own thrirt property. This is NOT a typical, Mexican leasehold or timeshare.
San Fleipe
Except for the 4-times a year the town plays host to the world-famous off-road races, the Mexican 1000, the Baja 500 and the Baja 250, San Felipe enjoys its spot as a still-quiet fishing village known for the alst 50-years as the “Shrimp Capitol of the World”. But with the giant, Barcelona-based development corporation Inveravante having committed the first $1.5B to breaking ground on their new, multi-use commercial/residential seaside community and marina, the world is finally awakening to this little gem of Baja paradise. But for now, with a population of just 20,000, street vendors still line the avenidas and calles selling authentic Mexican fare form their sidewalk cafes and carts. And while the Malecon, with its eclectic sidewalk entertainment still lighs-up the weekend nights, the town is typically quiet after 10 o’clock durin g the week enabling the resident fishermen to launch their pangas right from the beach well-before dawn, returning with their nets filled with all manner of seafood desinned for private and restaurant dinner tables tagh very same day.
The Mexican Crime Myth
While it’s true that Mexico has more than its fair share of well-publicised violence, what the media fails to mention is that, with the exception of Tijuana, gateway to the American drug trade, the violencce they talk about is virtually exclusive to Mainland Mexico; more than 150-miles across the Gulf of Mexico and a world-away from Baja and the small town of San Felipe with crime rate of just 2.5. And when we say there’s virtualy no violence in San Felipe, that includes even the street crimes that are so prevalent these days, especially in the US. In fact, compared to places like Mainland Mexico’s popular destinations like Puerto Vallarta at 38.49, Mazatlan 46.05 and Cancun at 62.20, San Felipe’s 2.5 barely registers.
